Proxies
The MDAS Constitution allows Members to give their ‘proxy’ to another Member.  That means allowing another Member to cast a vote for them.  However, the Constitution only permits Members to cast one vote, even if they are holding proxies.
Holding proxies will not give you any additional votes at the meeting – you can cast one vote.  This means that if you want to vote and have your say, you need to attend the AGM in person, or by video-conference.
Election of Directors
You can read the list of candidates who have nominated as Directors, and their statements, here.

Directors will be elected in two ballots.
1. The dedicated Swan Hill director will be elected first by Members who live in Swan Hill, Kerang and Robinvale.
2. Once this position is filled, the unsuccessful candidate will be added to the list of candidates for the remaining director positions.
3. The remaining director positions will be filled by a vote of all MDAS Members.

The election will be chaired by the Executive Director, Jill Gallagher (from VACCHO), assisted by Jim O’Shea, the returning officer.  The vote will be observed by an independent person, arranged by the government.

Voting will open when the meeting gets to item 7 – it is not possible to say exactly when this will be.
The opening of the voting for each ballot will be announced and each will be open for 15 minutes.

Opportunities to raise issues
There is plenty of time for Members to raise issues that matter to them at the AGM on the agenda. Members can ask questions of the Board and the Executive Director as they present the Annual Report, Audited Financial Reports and the Chair and Executive Directors’ reports.  Any questions that can’t be answered on the day will be answered online after the AGM.
Members can talk about other issues during item 8 – other business.
This is a good opportunity for Members to raise issues that they would like the new Board to consider.

If you wish to apply for membership, please click here.

MDAS is still accepting membership applications but for this year the register of members for voting at the AGM on 28 November 2020 has closed.

All membership applications received after November 11, 2020 will be considered by the new board and those members will be eligible to vote at the 2021 AGM.
