OUR ORGANISATION

Mallee District Aboriginal Services provides Health, Family, Early Years and Wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in the Mallee region of north west Victoria.


Services are provided by more than 200 staff at our service centres in three locations - Mildura, Swan Hill and Kerang.

The organisation's overall operations and administration are overseen by our Acting Chief Executive Officer, Jacki Turfrey (top left) and Acting Executive Director Jill Gallagher (top right).

Day to day operational aspects of the organisation are overseen by the Acting Director of Corporate Services John Bergin, Director of Family Services George Fagioli (bottom left) and Director of Health Services Samantha Brennan (bottom right).

Our people

More than half the workforce at MDAS is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background. Detailed data about the MDAS workforce can be viewed in our 2015 Worforce Review.

Our MDAS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy demonstrates the commitment by MDAS to Closing the Gap by:
  • Providing a resilient workforce with high Aboriginal employment and demonstrated cultural competency for non-Aboriginal Employees
  • Developing and establishing a consulting service to provide advice and support to external organisations and service providers on developing Aboriginal Employment Strategies and engaging Aboriginal people in their workforce

Our plan

Aboriginal health, wellbeing, culture and economic prosperity is everyone's responsibility. But is is Mallee District Aboriginal Services' core business.

MDAS is proud to publish its second four-year Strategic Plan, which describes a vision for Aboriginal communities in the Mallee district, as well as MDAS's commitment to making this a reality.
