EARLY LEARNING & EARLY YEARS GROUPS

HIPPY

HIPPY (Home Interraction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is a home-based early-learning and parenting program for families of pre-school children.

You are your child's first and most important teachers and HIPPY home tutors can help you with activities for fun and learning.

The program fits around your daily routine.  HIPPY families spend around 10-15 minutes a day doing educational activities together.

The activities allow your child to have fun and build confidence.

HIPPY is an opportunity for parents and children to learn and grow together.

We always enjoy some morning tea and lunch.

HIPPY is delivered in conjunction with HIPPY Australia.

Play Groups

Our play groups provide opportunities for pre-school-aged children to play, learn, socialise and, above all, have fun!

There's always something new happening at playgroup, and we welcome everyone.

Activities are strong on culture and include active play, imagination, role play and educational games and toys as well as arts and crafts. And we always enjoy some morning tea or lunch.

Play Group sessions are on every week (during the school terms) at:

  • Mildura (Early Years Hub, Orange Avenue)
  • Swan Hill (Kunawaa, Chapman Street)
  • Kerang (Northern District Community Health)

Koori Preschool Assistant

The Koori Pre-School Assistant (KPSA) program supports Early Years Services to deliver programs which embrace Koori culture. It also assists families with enrolment and attendance at kindergarten.

Our KPSA is involved in delivering a culturally inclusive program to all funded kindergartens across the Mallee Local Government Area.

They
  • Support Aboriginal children and their families to be active participants in kindergarten, and promote the value of being involved
  • Build the capacity of kindergartens to provide culturally relevant programs
  • Can help families to locate a suitable kindergarten and advise on the central enrolment process through Mildura Rural City Council
  • Liaise with the Koori Engagement Officers (KESOs) in engaging with families of Aboriginal children
Koori families are encouraged to be involved in their child’s early education, and their input and feedback is welcomed.
