Welcome to the first community update from the MDAS Board.

We want our Mobs to know what the organisation is doing and where it's going, so after each Board meeting we will put out an update to keep our members and community in the loop.
The MDAS board is energised and passionate about:
Self-determination and representing the breadth diversity and strengths of all the local Aboriginal communities that we serve.
We want to be transparent and accountable, and continue to build an organisation that will best serve our communities.
If you've got comments or feedback about what you read in these Board updates, talk to us. What you say matters and will help us to rebuild integrity to put MDAS back at the heart of Mallee communities.
April 2021 Board meeting
Setting our future direction
Since late-2020, MDAS has been putting important reforms in place to make the organisation stronger and better able to serve our communities. This has included the organisation’s largest membership drive (increasing membership to more than 300 people); improving governance; strengthening financial oversight and administration; improving accountability and transparency to our communities. Now it's time to plan for the future.
At the April meeting, the MDAS Board agreed on a new vision, mission and values for the organisation, along with high-level stragegic objectives for the next three years. At the heart of all this is this vision:
Self determined, healthy, robust and culturally strong Aboriginal communities across the Mallee Region.
Over the coming weeks we will be talking to you about these to make sure you think we are headed in the right direction.
Importantly, we will be working directly with our staff members to involve them in the plan so they understand what their role is and how they can actively deliver this direction. A final draft strategic plan will be presented to the 2021 June Board meeting for approval.
