Job Description:
Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team Leader, reporting to the Operational Co-ordinator, is responsible for providing line management and direct support to the staff in each SEWB operating team or ‘Pod’. Team Leader positions will ensure that their Pods contribute positively to the overall function of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Service, maintain sound Community support and service delivery and wrap around Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people seeking assistance with emotional, social and cultural healing and connection.

The SEWB Team Leaders are responsible and accountable for day to day service delivery to Community, operating in accordance with the MDAS Strategic Plan, the State wide Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework and Federal funding authorities which require high level care and service delivery across Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug services, Housing, Justice and Diversion programs. As team leaders will be required to oversee divergent functions in their areas, a variety of skills and qualifications will be necessary, with the following identified:

Team Leader of Acute Presentations and Crisis Management (Pod 1) will possess all requirements of a team leader and additionally have a formal tertiary qualification in Health, Welfare or Behavioural Science plus a minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing acute mental health presentations, resolving situational crisis and liaising with complex Community systems.

Team Leader of Interpersonal Support (Pod 2) will possess all requirements of a team leader and additionally have a diploma level qualification in Community Services and have at least 2 years’ experience in managing high volume AOD, Welfare and/or community need caseloads.

Team Leader of Community Inclusion and Healing (Pod 3) will possess all requirements of a team leader and additionally have a diploma level qualification in Community Services and at least 2 years of overseeing, and/or running community based group sessions, community education and forums and gathering feedback from listening to community and family based wisdom and story-telling.

The SEWB Team Leader is also required to have a minimum caseload to support both staff and community. Sound documentation and report writing duties are part of the Team leader role as is the capacity to act up into a Coordination position as required. The Team Leader position bridges senior leadership with on the ground service delivery, so flexibility to move between operational perspectives is necessary.
